Every new model will need a few essential items to help them in their modeling career. We will tell you what you need to be prepared for your modeling auditions, photo shoots, and interviews.

Pants For Your Modeling Audition

Women should wear black form fitting pants such as leggings and men should wear black jeans like skinny jeans. These pant choices will let casting directors get a good sense of your body shape and help them know how you best fit with their agency or company.

Shirt For Your Modeling Audition

Shirts should also be somewhat tight and not have any large distracting words or logos on them. If possible they should black and plain, which will match your pants.

Shoes For You Modeling Audition

Your shoes should be heels that let you perform a great walk. You’ll need to practice in your heels before attending any auditions. Women should also bring a pair of flats for times when you aren’t required to be in heels. Men can wear any comfortable dress shoe that goes well with their outfit.

You won’t always be modeling in your clothes, and things often won’t fit exactly right, so you need to bring along a few accessories that will help you look your best.

Accessories

To get the perfect look or help with problematic hair you’ll want to have some of the following accessories with you. Clips and ties have a variety of uses including helping hold things in place, so you’ll want to just throw a few in your bag before going to a shoot. Body tape and safety pins will also help give you a great fit and make you look your best in every situation.

Makeup

There isn’t always a makeup artist on set, so if you bring a travel makeup kit you can do your own touch ups when the need arises. Pack something small that you can get out and use during breaks.

Snacks

You won’t get many breaks for eating while shooting the pictures. We recommend something that is not messy, has protein, and can be eaten quickly. The best option is usually a protein bar. We bring these to our auditions for the casting directors to eat!

This list should help take any unexpected surprises out of your auditions and time on set. Now that you have what you need, enjoy your time and don’t worry about not being prepared!
